My Job in Oracle

Hi,,wanna know my Job so far ? Ok,,let me share with you, what am I doing in Oracle so far..Here it is.

I joined Oracle in June 2008 as part of the first-ever batch from Indonesia of the ASEAN Graduate Development Program. After an intensive yet exciting two-month orientation in Kuala Lumpur with my fellow graduates (that was an awesome moment..^^), I embarked on my first rotation with the Business Development Consultant under Oracle Direct Application Sales (Commercial Accounts).

I truly feel that the learning curve is very steep in this particular role. Not only do I have to learn about the business processes and challenges of various industries but I also have to understand the solutions put forth by Oracle so that I can promote them to my prospective customers. After six months in this role, I feel much confident in talking to people and pitching IT solutions to them.

It gives me a great sense of satisfaction to be able to get my message across the people whom I’ve never known before. Furthermore, I have also gotten a chance to go onsite to meet our potential customers and I find this a very enriching practice from a learning point of view. I can see, in practice, the business processes in place in specific industries and this in turn helps me to pitch our products better to our potential customers. It also makes me realize that we not only need to know our own solutions well, we also need to know the strengths and weaknesses of our competitors.

Under this role, I see myself learning and growing rapidly. I see this as a good starting point to learn more about Oracle and its solutions, to understand the Oracle sales methodology, to develop persuasion and salesmanship skills and to build a robust network within the organization.

Ok, now..I was assigned in MRD sales Consultant. I picked up the basics of Oracle flagship SCM (Supply Chain Mangement) solution, Demantra, Transportation Management, othe ERP system and understood its salient features. In addition to my role as a Sales Consultant, I also engaged in calling up prospective customers and tried to pitch Demantra and other SCM solutions to them. All in all, this role gave me a good insight into the day-to-day working of a Sales Consultant; I also acquired in-depth product knowledge (focused on Demand Planning and Transportation Mangemnet, part of Oracle Advance Supply Chain Solutions), which I feel is essential if I want to sell the product&solutions well.

Shopping Like Crazy!

When I was walking through PS to took my lunch, I was been surprising by a lot of people walking around there, taking a lot of red plastic bags (I really mean a "LOT", more than 3 bags fulfilling their hands ). It became crowded than the other day. Oh no wonder, there was Metro Big Sale on that Friday. People shopped like crazy then. Uuupps,,not people, it's more appropriate if I write : Woman shopped like crazy.

They just took a lot of shoes, bags, and clothes, no matter the price is. They though that the price is lower than usual. No, they just became a prey of sales strategy. Just put the poster "30, 50 or 70% discount", then women would think that it'd be useful to bought all the things that day because there was a BIG sale. Oh, women can be fooled easily in term of the discount things!

And that day, I walked around there just to know te situation. Yaaaaay,,that's true. Women shopped like crazy. Taking a lot of BIG RED plastic bags, Queing so patienly (woohoo,,) just to get all the things that they though it was much cheapper . (Believe me,,that Big Sale is not as big as you think ).

Girls, just think twice before you waste your money. Buy what you need..Big sale is everyday coz there are no "BIG" discount indeed. Check the price, you'll believe what I said :), trust me!

Let's grow up, face everything, seize the day !!!

Menjadi dewasa adalah berani memepertanggungjawabkan setiap keputusan yang telah dibuat. Tidak menyalahkan orang lain saat keputusan yang diambilnya salah.

Mengambil keputusan yang benar adalah sangat wajar, tidak akan mengalami konflik batin yang rumit.

Namun, ketika keputusan yang diambil terasa berat, disitulah titik dimana kita harus tetap mempertanggungjawabkan semuanya. Jika memang pada akhirnya benar, tidak masalah pada awalnya terasa sulit.

Dan bila ternyata keputusan itu belum benar, tetaplah hadapi. Karakter orang akan terlihat saat dia menghadapi kesulitan.

Semoga Allah menerima semua amal kebaikan mas Radi, dan memberi ketabahan kepada keluarga yang ditinggalkan, amiin.

Mas Radi adalah salah satu staff lab. PSKE, anggota keluarga besar lab. Beliau yang suka bantu-bantu bikin kopi, beres-beres lab, dan ikut meramaikan setiap kegiatan lab kami. Sedih rasanya kehilangan salah satu anggota keluarga. Nggak akan ada lagi kehadiran mas Radi di acara-acara lab mendatang, tapi kenangan manis bersama Mas Radi akan selalu ada di hati.

Aku merasa beruntung karena semingu yang lalu, saat ada acara PSKE gathering yang rutin kami lakukan setahu sekali,,masih sempat bertemu dengannya. Andai saja aku tahu itu saat terakhir pertemuan kami, mungkin aku kan lebih meluangkan waktu untuk mengobrol bersama mas Radi. Tapi,,kematian adalah sebuah misteri Illahi.

Mas Radi waktu itu bertanya, dengan logat sundanya yang amat kental,

"kok cuma sedikit,,yang dateng,,yang lain ke mana biasanya kan suka barengan. Ai yang itu yang tinggi,,siapa teh,,merlyn,,ga ikutan? "

"Oh,,iya mas radi, pada ga bisa. Merlyn lembur,,Dina di semarang, jauh. Gilang ga bisa,,yang cowok2 mah ga ada kabar"

"Ohh gitu,,pada jauh yah sekarang"

-dan itu menjadi percakapan akhirku dengan mas radi-

kalau aku, nchie, dan dina datang ke lab,,hampir selalu mas radi berkomentar :

"jadi rame yah lab,,ribut banget kalau kalian datang " -sambil tertawa-

atau kalau ada aku dan inanda, mas radi berkomentar :

"nanda yang mana,,nanche yang mana sih,,suka kebulak balik saya mah"

kali lain kalau aku sendiri yang datang, pasti dia bertanya :

"ga bareng temen-temnnya? yang tinggi,,yang pake jilbab"

komentar-komentar yang mencerminkan perhatian mas radi pada kami, tidak akan ada lagi..namun kebaikannya yang kami rasakan akan kami kenang selalu.
